The below notes are my personal notes and are not intended to be all-inclusive or official minutes for the Board of Education meetings and are provided as a request from my supporters and the general public in a personal effort to be more transparent. Although I have diligently tried to make these notes as unbiased and accurate as possible, I am only human and do make mistakes.
Executive session – 12 p.m.

Correspondence/Board Member updates
- McGraw - congrats to Stoddert Builders Club; committee at state level to develop equity amongst schools
- Kelly - Congratulations to graduates; school is out and so are kids, drivers be alert
- Marshall - congratulations to all graduates and promotions as well as retired employees; reading partners looking for more volunteers. Report on the MD Dept of Juvenile Services, serves on state council.
- Palko - town hall substitute training for TAM students
- Lukas - Project graduation

Initiatives to support positive learning environments

- JC Parks and JP Ryon will pilot the ASPIRE program
- Parent Shadowing will be piloted at two schools at each level
- Restorative Practices will be implemented at all middle schools first
- Position of Hearing Officer is no more. Developed (2) Student Conduct and Engagement Officers. One for elementary and middle and one for high school.

- Outstanding Vice Principal of the Year Award: Belinda Shatley, vice principal, Theodore G. Davis Middle School
- Outstanding Support Staff Awards: Travis Harman, roof mechanic, Maintenance Shop; Barbara Tillman, secretary to the principal, Berry Elementary School; Gail Slaughter, food service manager, Henry E. Lackey High School; Jacqueline Douglas, kindergarten instructional assistant, Dr. James Craik Elementary School; and David Troxel, computer analyst, Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building
- Sean Heyl - Teacher at McDonough and parent. Discipline Matrix good first steps and continue dialog. Last two years have been the worst in 24 year career due to discipline problems, fighting and violence. Promote and support administrative discretion on consequences. Point system for ISR. Points based on severity of infraction.
- Allisa Gains - Daughter going in 7th grade. Graduation Fridays with Diggs and Davis out on Friday. Can other schools be out that day as well to attend sibling graduations? Provide waivers.
- Calvin Compton - Bus contractor. Report from legislative auditors false information. Payroll tax is indicated as a minimal amount when in fact it is not.
- Jenna Heyl - McDonough High School teacher and parent. Renovations still needed at McDonough. Discipline matrix, repercussions have been devastating due to COMAR changes. Possible solutions...more mental health assistance/guidance from professionals, responsive classrooms, in-school intervention (calvert county).
