  • Sean Heyl - Teacher at McDonough and parent.  Discipline Matrix good first steps and continue dialog.  Last two years have been the worst in 24 year career due to discipline problems, fighting and violence. Promote and support administrative discretion on consequences.  Point system for ISR.  Points based on severity of infraction.
  • Allisa Gains - Daughter going in 7th grade.  Graduation Fridays with Diggs and Davis out on Friday.  Can other schools be out that day as well to attend sibling graduations?  Provide waivers.
  • Calvin Compton - Bus contractor.  Report from legislative auditors false information.  Payroll tax is indicated as a minimal amount when in fact it is not.
  • Jenna Heyl - McDonough High School teacher and parent.  Renovations still needed at McDonough.  Discipline matrix, repercussions have been devastating due to COMAR changes.  Possible solutions...more mental health assistance/guidance from professionals,  responsive classrooms, in-school intervention (calvert county).

The Board of Education’s next monthly meeting is Tuesday, June 13 at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building on Radio Station Road in La Plata. The public portion of the meeting begins at 1 p.m. and student and staff recognition starts at 4:30 p.m. The meeting is televised live on Comcast Channel 96 and Verizon FiOS Channel 12 and is rebroadcast throughout the week.
Board meetings are also streamed live on the school system website at www.ccboe.com. Select the live streaming image displayed in the center of the home page. The following is a tentative meeting agenda and is subject to change.
