The below notes are my personal notes and are not intended to be all-inclusive or official minutes for the Board of Education meetings and are provided as a request from my supporters and the general public in a personal effort to be more transparent. Although I have diligently tried to make these notes as unbiased and accurate as possible, I am only human and do make mistakes.
Call to order – 6 p.m. - Pledge of Allegiance
Public Forum
- Dr. Howard Haft - Daughters at McDonough High School. Concerned about the increase in violence. Students need more accountability.
- Lisa Akers - McDonough High School increase in violence. daily fights. more support and discipline for students. Recommendations include a second resource officer, another psychologist/social worker, community task force, state involvement, ESSL students
- Lenny Hicks jr. @ McDonough, phone video taped fights. daughter scared to go to school. graduating early and fore going her senior year. complex issues at school that need addressing. letter to the editor
- Christine Siud - Junior and a freshman, violent atmosphere, small group of students are the problem, whole body is being punished. happy with staff
- Kelly Robertson - Junior and recent graduate. increase in violence on buses. girls from group homes are initiating. daughter wont ride the bus anymore.
- Susie Haley - 2 McDonough graduates, 1 -10th grade, 1-8th grade, students need more,support. students have issues. consequences of actions are not harsh enough. support staff and administrators.
