Notes from Board Work Session, 9/24/07

The below notes are my personal notes and are not intended to be all-inclusive or official minutes for the Board of Education meetings and are provided as a request from my supporters and the general public in a personal effort to be more transparent. Although I have diligently tried to make these notes as unbiased and accurate as possible, I am only human and do make mistakes. Please follow-up for official minutes upon approval. For copies of printed reports presented visit Board Docs.

Public Forum

  • Gentleman spoke - 2 sons. 3 year old program at Mt Hope Nanjemoy. Application and acceptance process needs overhaul. Some students (with parents) showed up on first day of school (after being accepted) only to be told that there was a mistake and that they were not eligble for the program because they made too much money. Childrn turned away. Most have since been accepted after a lengthy process. In addition, believes ALL 3 year olds need to be in car seats on the buses.

I didn't see anything in the Independent with regard to a legally blind substitute being accosted and kicked by middle school students, then having her seeing eye dog hit as well.

Could Rye please cite a specific date that the information was in the newspaper?

I know that they do not publish all the violence that occurs in the schools.

Anonymous,
This is the second time that I've heard a story similar to this but have not been able to gather any more details. Could you give me anymore information, like a school name?
