Teacher's Pension and Salaries

Contrary to the EACC propaganda, I voted for an increase in teacher pension and do support a substantial increase in salaries. Although the starting salary for teachers MAY be adequate, the subsequent increases are not high enough. I believe the Board should dealve into pay increases being based on performance not tenure. Teachers deserve to be compensated based on their effectiveness in the classroom. These teachers not only are teaching our future leaders of this country, but they have to constantly deal with and answer to parents and administration while adhering to all federal/state/county guidelines and deal with our children. It's a tough job and they deserve our support!

Doodydom,
I have done some research, not a lot because this has never been a topic for the Board. However, most of the articles I have read show that it does work. I've listed a few links below. If you can back up your statement "teacher pay based on performance does not work" I would be interested in reading the articles. Please post the links.
As for being educated about a subject, I'm learning every day and if I were you I would take heed to your own advice!

I don't know who doofydom is trying to kid but there is all kinds of research to prove merit pay DOES work! Sounds to me like doofydom is just another one of those prounion teachers that spends more time promoting union activities than caring about students. We all know the type. They're slackers in the classroom but great balls of fire down at the union hall. They let those 20% of the "top shelf" teachers work their tails off so the slackers can ride the gravy train all the way to the bank. You go Jennifer. Thanks for doing your research. Let's see what kind of studies doofydom can cite that AREN'T regurgitated from NEA's communist agenda. Our good teachers deserve more than the average salary and our slackers deserve the boot.

How about a little of both? Pay increases for tenure and for performance in the classroom, that would cover all areas of concern! If a teacher out performs their peers in the classroom then they should receive a higher pay increase. Effective incentives work great miracles. The real question is, how could a person prove great performance above their peers?
