Four Veteran Principals Will Be Missed

Four principals will be leaving CCPS at the end of the school year taking with them, 55 years of combined experience.

  • North Point High School - Peter Cevenini - A Charles County educator for 17 years will be pursuing a career with Cisco Systems as the K-12 education consultant for Internet Business Solutions Group. North Point houses the Cisco Networking Academy, which trains students in computer networking.
  • Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School - Susan Fowler - Principal of Jenifer for 10 years, is retiring from Charles and has accepted a position as principal of Lexington Park Elementary School in St. Mary’s County
  • Benjamin Stoddert Middle School - Sylvia Lawson - CCPS for more than 20 years will become the vice principal at Patuxent High School in Lusby (Calvert County)
  • William A. Diggs Elementary School - Kristen Shields - CCPS for seven years will be returning to Pennsylvania, where she has been appointed principal at Latrobe Elementary School.

Interviews to fill the vacancies began in January, and Superintendent James E. Richmond will make his recommendations to the school board June 12 and 25. The board will then make a decision on who will fill the positions.
