    • Schwartz - regarding more in depth background checks passed last year.  some of the language is a hindrance for hiring such as the 20 day delay.  Working with delegation to tweak the wording for a FIX46 bill.

Public Forum – 6 p.m. 
  • Theresa Hammond - School to prison pipeline. School based trauma. IEP should only be given to handicapped children and implemented appropriately. IEP's should not be given to those who are not handicapped.  Harsh treatment in the school system...must make ALL children in system successful.
  • Tim Perrier - Spoke last month.  Appearance as though no one is listening.  Some members cant even make eye contact.  Everyone should be concerned.
  • Rhonda Thomasson - Proper policies and procedures need to be established.  Tired of CCPS trying to hide things and sweep them under the rug.  Unruly student in classroom and teachers hands are tied.  What is administration teaching our students by not giving clear guidelines, consequences, and boundaries etc.  School should not be allowed to question or interrogate students without a parent present.  Child is proof of manipulated interrogation.  Dr. Hill has an over-inflated ridiculous contract.
  • Ian Herd - Student.  Promote Financial Literacy.  Extend to sophomores and through the Spring.  Thank you.  Continue looking for options to make it more equitable and financially possible for all students.  Members listened to students.

Agenda for Board of Education Meeting, 1/14/20

The Board of Education’s next monthly meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building on Radio Station Road in La Plata. The public portion of the meeting begins at 1 p.m. and recognition starts at 4:30 p.m.
The meeting is televised live on Comcast Channel 96 and Verizon FiOS Channel 12, and rebroadcast throughout the week. Board meetings are streamed live on the school system website www.ccboe.com.
