We are now here and ready to open and MUST open the school. In order to fund the opening, we had to make reductions in other areas to come up with the $10M to open the school. Staff worked diligently to try and identify those areas where reductions could take place taht would NOT affect the education process or the classrooms. In regards to the jobs eliminated, several were open positions (no one occupied them at the time) and the ones that were part-time, we are seeking to place them in full-time open positions. Unfortunately the activity buses while necessary for alot of students to particpate in after school activities, was an item that could be could eliminated that would not affect the education process or the classroom. If the commissioners reconsider the funding available, it is possible this item could be added back in at a later date.Jennifer Abellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03579669399103806962noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30234378.post-14084409246856170012014-06-29T14:16:19.667-04:002014-06-29T14:16:19.667-04:00Just to clarify, the reductions and eliminations a...Just to clarify, the reductions and eliminations are a result of the $2.9 million budget (that should have been $7.7 or $10 as promised)? What happens to the 61 employees whose jobs have been eliminated? Also, what do students who relied on activity buses to do now that they are gone? This budget is now going to cause a mess of problems for both teachers and students. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
